Nelson has been a professor in the Department of Medicine at the National
Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver, Colorado, for over 20 years. He
is also a Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences
Center. Dr. Nelson has published nearly 300 articles and book chapters and
has been a key speaker on asthma, beta agonists, allergen immunotherapy, and
allergy skin tests. He has served on the Board of Regents of the American
College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and on the Board of Directors of
both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American
Board of Allergy and Immunology. He has served as Medical Director of the
Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, as Chair of the Allergy/Pulmonary
Advisory Committee for the US Pharmacopoeia, and as a member of the
Allergy/Pulmonary and the Allergenic Products Advisory committees to the Food
and Drug Administration. Dr. Nelson has been honored with the Fellow Distinguished Award of
the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, the Distinguished
Clinician Award of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, and
membership in the Royal College of Physicians. He is a recipient of the
"Gold-Headed Cane Award" and a Distinguished Service award from the American
College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, and a Lifetime Achievement Award
